Flea Preparation |
The most important step in controlling fleas is to have your pets treated. Your veterinarian should carry Advatage by Bayer. Once your pet has been properly treated, make sure you keep your pet(s) treated each month, even when your not seeing any more fleas. After the Flea Treatment Preparations (found below), have been completed, we will treat all carpeted areas, rugs, bottom of drapes, under couch cussions and along crack and crevices. This procedure will be accomplished using both an adulticide (Kicker) and a insect growth regulator (Precor). Insect growth regulators (i.g.r.'s), give the fleas juvenile hormones so they can NOT reproduce. Due to the biology and behavior of fleas, it may be necessary to repeat the treatment in 7 to 10 days. |
1. All people and pets must leave the structure for a minimum of 2 hours after treatment. 2. Have your pets treated for fleas on the same day of treatment. 3. Turn off heating/air conditoning prior to treatment. 4. Unplug and cover fish tanks. 5. Wash, on hot cycle, all pet bedding, and any other bedding where pet frequents. 6. Remove all objects from under beds, and small objects from floors. 7. Pick up pet dishes and toys. 8. Vacuum floors and upholstered furniture no more than 2 hours prior to treatment. (Throw away vacuum bag immediately in exterior trash). If you plan on having any carpet cleaning done, do this prior to treatment. 9. If an exterior treatment is to be done, mow grass and rake up leaf debris prior to treatment. |
Not following these procedures, will most likely result in a failure to control the fleas. |
